Toddler Killed After Being Struck Crossing Tram Pad Near Maryland Boardwalk, Police Say

A toddler was killed after being struck by a train in Maryland, police confirm.

The Ocean City Police Department was called shortly before 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20 to investigate a pedestrian crash involving a tram on the Boardwalk near Dorchester Street.

According to investigators, a 2-year-old boy was crossing the tram pad when he was struck by a southbound tram. Paramedics pronounced the child dead at the scene.

Both tram conductors remained on the scene during the investigation, which is ongoing.

The name of the child has not been released.
